Air transport – when is it worth choosing?
Air transport is the fastest mode of transport available on the market and, at the same time, one of the safest. Thanks to a worldwide network of connections, it can deliver goods to virtually any corner of the world. It works particularly well when:
- the shipment is urgent – e.g. spare parts that a production line is waiting for,
- the goods are of high value relative to their weight, e.g. electronics or components,
- you are sending samples or prototypes, or replenishing stock ahead of the season,
- the cost of downtime or tied-up capital is higher than the difference in transport costs.
It is also an alternative to LCL sea freight in situations where the delivery date is critical.

We work with proven airlines and agents that offer regular services. We handle cargo to and from Poland via Polish airports and major European hub airports, from where the goods are brought to Poland by road.
How is the air freight price calculated?
In air transport, you pay for the so-called chargeable weight – the greater of two values: the actual gross weight or the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is most often calculated using a conversion factor of 1 m³ = 167 kg, i.e. length × width × height (in cm) ÷ 6000.
Example: a carton measuring 60 × 50 × 40 cm and weighing 15 kg has a volumetric weight of 60 × 50 × 40 ÷ 6000 = 20 kg. The freight will therefore be charged on 20 kg.
In addition to the freight rate, there are fuel and security surcharges, airport handling charges, and clearance and delivery costs. Our offer shows the full cost of the shipment.
Air freight documents
The basic document is the Air Waybill (AWB). For consolidated shipments, a master air waybill (MAWB) is issued for the entire consolidation and house air waybills (HAWB) for the individual shippers. A commercial invoice and a packing list are also required and, depending on the goods, additional documents.
Dangerous goods and restrictions
Some goods – e.g. lithium batteries, aerosols, paints or chemicals – are subject to special IATA regulations on the carriage of dangerous goods (DGR). Before shipment, we will check whether, and on what conditions, the goods can be carried by air, and what labelling and documents will be required.

Frequently asked questions
How long does air transport take?
The flight itself usually takes from a dozen or so hours to 2–3 days. The whole delivery – including collection, customs clearance and final transport to the address – usually takes from a few days to approx. two weeks, depending on the destination and the type of service.
Which is cheaper – air freight or LCL sea freight?
Usually LCL sea freight, but it takes several weeks longer. For small, light shipments the price difference can be small, and for urgent deliveries air freight often proves more cost-effective. We will be happy to compare both options.
How do I calculate the chargeable weight of an air shipment?
Multiply the package dimensions in centimetres (length × width × height) and divide the result by 6000 – this gives you the volumetric weight in kilograms. Freight is charged on the greater of the two values: the actual gross weight or the volumetric weight.
Do you arrange customs clearance for air shipments?
Yes. In cooperation with customs agencies, we arrange import and export clearance for air shipments and then deliver the goods to the address you specify.
